A first of its kind – cave-aged gin

Cascave Gin - a family enterprise, was born over a G&T (what else?). Julie and daughters Naomi and Heidi approached us to help them create a new brand for their gin business in order to challenge and disrupt the most hotly contested of drinks categories.

Cascave Gin explores the secret journey of our Welsh water - tumbling down the wild hills of the Brecon Beacons, taking in native botanicals and carving through the darkest crevices of Wales, her caves, tunnels, and mines. Cascave reflects the very essence of these mysterious places - the minerals of the water, and the air exchanged through oak casks

 

This one- of-a-kind gin is stored in the historic Welsh cave - Dan yr Ogof, where the pure water is hand-collected from a source deep within and used to make this magical drink.

 
 

The flavour of the gin is enhanced by the mineral-rich water, taken raw from a natural spring deep underground. Ultimately, it’s the cave springs that led to the formation of Dan yr Ogof and harnessing the power of this water in Cascave Gin is a privilege.

 

Our design choices were influenced by the landscape - specifically the rock structure of the cave. The design incorporates intricate deboss detailing, mimicking the cracks and crevices of the rock face. The rustic texture of the rock can be felt under your fingertips, and a mixture of fluted and pressed foils elevate the tactile quality of the label.

 
 
 

We chose a font which would lend itself well to the chiselled structure of the fluted foil, as if it were 'carved out of stone.' We paired this with a sophisticated natural colour palette, allowing the embossed texture and foiled text to stand out. We incorporated maps on the back of the label to show where the water is collected and where the cave-aged gin is stored. All this reflects the story of a journey through the Brecon Beacons, retold in this unique gin.
